Not all children will be successful inside the classroom in terms of writing and reading.

With the theme ‘Maximizing Potential’ at the Numeracy and Literacy week Nabua Primary School head teacher Filipe Gonedua says students have different talents and not all will be successful inside the classroom.

Mr Gonedua said we had a weeklong celebration on the literacy and numeracy with education exhibition and also with the non-examinable subjects like arts, sports and singing.

“Monday and Tuesday were devoted to literacy with Wednesday and Thursday on numeracy. Friday was the final day in which the students had to showcase all that they have learnt”.

“We had displays in the hall from our Primary and Early Childhood education students with the support of teachers. With the different booths parents were invited to view the display and see all that their children have learnt throughout the week,” said Mr Gonedua.

“Students prepared their traditional food which was displayed at different booths with students from Year 8 making lovo at the school on the final day of the celebrations,” he said.

Mr Gonedua said students were given the chance to teach other students with some class subject which was a great learning experience for most of them.
